Hinoki is more than a simple cypress tree. It holds a unique space in Japanese lore. Its scent has a centring effect, said to trigger calming alpha brain waves — a touch of lemon, cedar and airy woods. These incense sticks and their holders are sourced from the Shimanto river valley, near Kochi, Japan.
